Associate Dentist

In the UK, the majority of dentists, in general practice, work as self-employed associates. An Associate dentist is someone who works at a dental practice, as a dentist, but does not own the practice and is not employed by the owner of the dental practice.

At Market House, like most UK dental practices, the Associate dentists are not employed. The Associate is an independent contractor.


The relationship between Associates and practice owners, centres on the Associate making regular (usually monthly) payments to the practice owner in return for the use of the practice premises, equipment, materials and staff.


Market House Dental Practice Ltd [“MHDP”] facilitates a self-employed dental Associate to supply a patient with dental services. The fees payable by the patient are collected by MHDP on behalf of the dental Associate. The patient being treated by the Associate dentist has a direct contractual relationship with that dentist, not with MHDP or any other dentist working at Market House.
