Roger-James represents the 3rd generation of dentists at Market House and continues the work of his father’s 40 years of care.

Roger graduated from King’s College, London and has been working in general dentistry for over 20 years. One of his greatest pleasures is restoring mouths which have run into difficulty over the years and seeing the transformation in patient confidence, health and vibrancy. Having been mentored by previous skilled and caring dentists at the practice and consultant specialists, he spends much of his time carrying out complex restorative cases. Arriving at creative solutions with the patient to optimise their oral health for their lifestyle and stage of life.

A member of the British Society of Occlusal Studies and Association of Dental Implantology, he is keen to achieve harmonised oral health. A member of the Society for Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry allows him to carry out sedation for nervous patients.

Joymon Sasikumar

Associate Dentist

Joy graduated from Newcastle University and is passionate about helping patients to smile with confidence and delivering exceptional patient care. His gentle, friendly manner and attentive approach ensures even the most anxious of patients have a great experience.

Joy gained his membership to the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Glasgow in 2020 and is currently in the final year of his Masters in Endodontology (root canal treatment).

Joy is also a Clinical Teaching Fellow at the University of Portsmouth Dental Academy where he supervises and trains future dental care professionals.

He is a certified Invisalign and SmileFast provider and enjoys helping to maintain or restore natural looking-smiles with minimally invasive techniques.

Joy stays at the forefront of dentistry having trained with world-renowned experts across Europe, including the founders of StyleItaliano dentistry in Milan. He is also enrolled on the Kois course in Seattle, USA, where he refines his skills in complex restorative dentistry.

Outside of dentistry, Joy enjoys volunteering with the British Red Cross, keeping fit and travelling. He has a passion for wildlife photography and birdwatching.

Laurence Murray

Dental Surgeon - Special Interest in Occlusal Dentistry

Laurence qualified from Dundee University in 1981 and has a special interest in occlusion and Temporomandibular Disorders.

Laurence is interested in all aspects of dentistry and has a particular interest and skill in treating Temporal Mandibular Disorders and the way the teeth relate to headaches, neck aches and tooth ache.

Laurence started his interest in occlusion when he heard Dr Niles Guichet talk in 1989 and then followed a structured 3 year training programme run by IPSO and taught by Dr Bill Comcowich, Dr John Bassett and Dr Peter Nissler. He has maintained an interest in occlusion and how it is important in all facets of dentistry. He treats patients with TMD and those who suffer from chronic headaches and neck aches.

Laurence lectures on occlusion and advanced dentistry both here and abroad and is currently the Director of Education for the British Society for Occlusal Studies (BSOS).

Laurence accepts referrals for:

Maaike Harrisson

Maaike graduated from the University of Portsmouth in Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy in 2017. Following her degree, she completed her Foundation Training year in Dental Therapy treating dentally phobic patients, as well as individuals with special needs.

Maaike regularly attends continuing professional educational courses and is always looking for ways to improve her skills. She has a gentle manner and tries to make her patients feel as comfortable as possible.

Rosie graduated from the University of Portsmouth in Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy in 2017. Following her degree, Rosie went on to study a Master Class in Periodontal Disease in 2018.

They never mentioned TK and planting wildflowers to us. Rather surprised they are even considering this as a) they don't own  the plot and b) have they forgotten that the whole premise of our planning objection was that it should be left alone as it is 'a natural wildlife corridor' .  Nearly as bad as the idea /suggestion from Tom and Grace that we could all club together and buy it and turn it into a nice garden or tennis court! Market House is a highly professional and efficient dental practice, but everybody is really welcoming and friendly too - unreservedly recommended.  One minor gripe has been the extended waiting times (not unexpected for a busy dentist), but that does now seem to be on the mend, and it may sometimes have been the result of last-minute emergency cases being squeezed between regular patients, which is itself reassuring. Initially, I was alarmed at the prospect of a bone graft and implant procedure affecting my front teeth, but all is well!  Roger Scholes’ reputation for perfectionism is well earned. He communicates with me clearly and thoughtfully at every stage of planning and treatment.

The practice's high-tech scanning made the planning precise, and having a sedationist on hand meant I was completely stress and pain-free. The aftercare is proactive too.

I unhesitatingly recommend and give Market House dental surgery 5 stars. My family and I have been patients for many years, from when as a young couple we first arrived in Chichester. I already had poor teeth owing to lack of good care in my childhood, but I received excellent treatment from, at that time, Roger Scholes’s father.  When Roger James took over the practice , he continued to provide the highest standards of treatment, for which the practice was already well known. I have three children, all of whom have had excellent dental care throughout their childhood, have fine, healthy teeth , and are now all teaching their own children the good habits Market House taught them.
My own needs have been particularly challenging and  I have had to have a large number of crowns, bridges and implants over the years, for which I have been very grateful, as thanks to Market House, I was able to continue in my career which involved a lot of public speaking. They gave me the confidence to carry on without the constant fear that something might drop out! When emergencies have arisen out of hours, I have always been able to contact them and if necessary, be treated.
Roger continues to stay at the cutting edge of the latest research and excellent dental practice and applies that knowledge skilfully in his treatments, always carefully discussing and explaining any procedures beforehand. I have always been treated with respect, dignity and compassion, and Roger's dental nurses and staff have cheerfully stayed beyond their time on several occasions to finish a long treatment. I am very, very grateful to them.
I have now moved to Exmouth in Devon, but continue to come back to Market House for my treatment and have no intention of changing.
